Tattoo After Care Is Equally Important
Follow the instructions below after you get inked (tattooed)
Follow the instructions below after you get inked (tattooed)
Initial First 2 Days Care:
Wash your hands: Use antibacterial liquid soap like Savlon or Dettol to ensure cleanliness.
Remove the bandage: Gently peel off the bandage.
Avoid using liquid soap on the tattoo.
Wash the tattoo: Create a lather/Foam with the Baby Soap on your palm, then apply it to the tattoo and wash your tattoo slowly-slowly for 20 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with water.
Pat dry: Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean, soft tissue.
Air Dry: Let the tattoo air dry for 15 minutes (in winter, use a hair dryer for dry but cold air only, No HEAT)
Apply ointment: Apply a thin layer of Vitamin A&D Ointment, Tat Wax on the tattoo. After 5 minutes, remove the excess wax/ointment from the tattoo, and make it dab-dab dry with a tissue.
After 2 Days:
Keep it dry: Avoid submerging the tattoo in water for at least 2-3 weeks.
Apply A&D or Tat Wax: Apply a thin layer of A&D or Wax 2-3 times a day to the entire area of the tattoo, for 2-3 weeks. Avoid over-applying.
Monitor for dryness: If the tattoo becomes dry, apply a thin layer of Wax.
Don’t over-apply (can cause sweating, redness & pimples)
Things to Avoid Strictly:
No Polythene/Plastic Bandage: traps heat and sweat, creating a breeding ground for bacteria that can lead to infections or a "moisture rash".
Picking or scratching: Avoid picking at scabs or scratching the tattoo.
Direct sunlight: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight for at least 2-3 weeks.
Harsh chemicals: Stay away from harsh chemicals, such as chlorine from pools or hot tubs.
Rubbing: Avoid rubbing and scratching the tattoo excessively.
Gym / heavy sweating: Avoid 5–7 days
Swimming/sauna: Avoid 4-5 weeks
Additional Tips:
Sleep on clean sheets: Change your bed linens frequently to prevent bacteria from coming into contact with the tattoo.
Wear loose clothing: Wear loose-fitting clothing over the tattooed area to minimize friction and irritation.
Consult your tattoo artist: If you have any concerns or questions, don't hesitate to contact your tattoo artist for advice.
By following these guidelines, you can help your tattoo heal properly and minimize the risk of complications.
